About Us

A natural wine boutique selling experiences in bottles. With Slovenia’s winemakers being at the forefront of natural wine innovation in Europe, we offer a wide variety from indigenous grapes to classic wines reimagined. We sell what we drink, and we guarantee: that none of our wines will ever bore you.

We all still remember our first glass of natural, amber, orange or however you want to call it, wine. An eye-opening experience, a WOW moment. The moment, when we all thought “This is how wine can be?”. And now we are here, to share that experience with you.

We are Alen, Karo, Ira and Rainer and we founded DrinkSloWine in 2021 out of a love for Slovenian natural wine. We are on a mission to share our love for these outstanding, exciting, handmade wines with Europe – so feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.

Located in a former bank office, we have over 80 wines from 16 wine makers on stock – and always some that we don’t sell online. So, it makes sense to come buy. You can also book tastings and spend a few hours with our sommelier Alen.

Great place to taste and learn more about natural Slovenian wine. Alen was incredibly knowledgeable, very friendly and explained everything really well for us who are not the most wine savvy people. A must do if you are in Kobarid.

Delicious, high-quality Slovenian organic wines in a cozy shop in the heart of Kobarid. You can taste them, buy some to take home, and later reorder them online if you run out. The owners, Alan and Karo, are very friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming. While the prices are a bit higher than mass-produced wines, it's a must-visit for wine lovers in Kobarid, as they work exclusively with local organic winemakers, as far as I know. Highly recommended!

We silly Americans came in without a reservation and Alen was so kind and hospitable, he gave us a wine tasting on the spot when he was clearly busy. We are new to wine tasting and he was very knowledgeable and passionate. He also has an ⭐amazing⭐ selection, it was genuinely so difficult to choose which ones we loved best to buy! Yesterday we had a wonderful experience at DrinkSloWine. Although our reservation was not noticed by the owner, we were still served despite the very busy evening. We tasted various Slovenian wines and received a passionate and professional explanation. The owner is very friendly and gave us a fun and educational evening. 5 starts after so many reviews is no joke. You’ll get a tailored tasting and a rare selection of natural, unfiltered wines primarily from Slovenia but a few from Austria and Italy. Make a reservation if you can or arrive early. Support this local shop and buy a dozen blends. You won’t regret it.

Super fun place! A very interesting and nice guy, who guided us perfect through all the wines we get to taste. He provided us with very good and interesting wines. After the tasting we ended up buying a few bottles from the tasting and Alen also recommended us more bottles based on our taste, which I’m looking forward to try! I would recommend visiting the shop, the tasting or a wine-related Q&A with Alen!

On a whim, we walked down to Kobarid’s main street. A flyer in our Airbnb told us about a affordable wine tasting of local wine. It sounded fun for my family. I believe he offered 3 wines for €12-15 per person, but we got so much more. Pours were generous and kept coming. We bought two local bottles. I think I read that Alen was a former sommelier for Hiśa Franko, a local Michelin-starred restaurant. He was incredibly kind, attentive, generous, funny, passionate, and informative. He believes in natural, Slovenian wines and tailors the experience to your taste. He offers a generous bucket of delicious popcorn that I wish our grocery stores carried. It was a personal connection and experience we will remember and will recommend to all Slovenian travelers. Thanks, Allen for being a highlight of our trip!

If you are into Natural Wine this place is a must in Kobarid. Alen who runs the shop is the ex sommelier of Hisa Franko and very passionate about natural wine. Head there for a tasting or just to buy some bottles, he has almost all of slovenians natural wine palette. Cheerio

Alen is an amazing host and an expert in wine. It is more than a shop with a great selection of Slovenian natural wines. I'd recommend you go there for wine tasting late afternoon/early evening. And just try stuff before you buy. Well worth it! A super cool experience!

I have to say, my visit at Drink Slo Wine in Kobarid was a blast! The owner Alen seriously seriously knows his stuff when it comes to Slovenian natural wines. The selection of bottles they have is astonishing, and their hospitality genuine. Big thanks for the aperitivo before going out for late dinner. Only regret is we could leave with more bottles to stock up the cellar back home in Canada. Don’t hesitate, go and visit the shop, have a great time and leave with some beautiful wines! Cheers!

This store and the owner Alen are absolutely fantastic. If you are a wine drinker this is a spot you should not miss!! My husband and I were visiting Kobarid and we walked in looking for a bottle. He led us through extensive tastings and education about Slovenian natural wine and guided us to several bottles that were exceptional. He then took the time to recommend several places for dinner and told us to come back in the evening for an apertivo before going out to dinner. Throughout the weekend we were there we stopped by several times for glasses, for a chat and for learning more about Slovenia and natural wine. I can’t thank Alen enough for truly shaping our experience in Kobarid His wine knowledge is unparalleled, his selection is amazing and his hospitality and love of what he does is absolutely apparent.

Absolutely amazing place. The lovely owners are utterly prep about wines and the shop is full of different types of white/ orange/ rose and red wine. We most definitely will go back asap. Ps. During the wine tasting we end up getting drunk🙈😂 Ramona, Italy

We offer wine tastings starting with groups as small as 2 people. We have a choice of tasting concepts ready for you but are also happy to cater to your needs and develop a bespoke tasting for you.

If you let us know before, we can also have a salami or cheese platter ready for you to go with the tasting.
